It's Alive! It's Alive!

It's Alive!

I finally, after about 3 days of messing around fixing little problems, managed to get the blog up and running.

The blog runs Ghost which is opensource software specifically for blogs and by intention nothing else. I first looked to use WordPress, but soon found out that, over time, it's grown to be much more than just blogging software. It's now complicated and has a steep learning curve. I wanted something that's specifically just for blogging, simple to use, with easy editing and a clean look. Ghost is exactly that.

For those of you who are curious, this blog lives on a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B. The blog's database uses MySQL and it proxies through an Apache Web Server. All these other components are also on the Raspberry Pi along with an OwnCloud server, a private Simple Machines forum, a Serviio media server and probably a few other things I can't remember right now. In the future it'll also host a secure mail server with anti-virus scanning and spam filtering. It won't stop there, I'm sure, this is just the beginning...
